Apartment Above Lukes, Christmas Day

Kathy had gone slightly less Christmas!Kathy this year, in part because her apartment was smaller. But there was a tree - the largest she could fit in her apartment - and decorations up everywhere that wasn't low enough for Ronin's tail to knock over. Most of the tree was covered in decorations she'd bought last year, but on the front were two very important ornaments, a half-burned clay pine tree, clumsy and made by a child, and six delicate metal fans knotted on a length of fishing wire.

There were Christmas carols playing softly through speakers, cookies and cocoa (and stuff to spike it with) on platters on the table, and presents waiting to be unwrapped under the tree. But, more importantly for the moment, there was a blanket on the couch and a dog looking for cuddles, and a moment of peace during the hectic holidays was a gift not to be squandered.

"Well, now I'm interested," Dante teased, carrying her through the bedroom door.

He lowered her onto the bed with care, grinning at her.

Kathy flipped over, stretching out over the bed to reach into her nightstand drawer, both to fetch the present and also to bring attention to the pale curve of her ass on the bed.

"You're going to have to close your eyes," she said when she found the package she was looking for. "Like I said, it's a surprise."

Dante laughed softly. "Okay," he said, sitting down next to that pretty ass. He shut his eyes as he flopped backward onto the mattress.

It took Kathy just a few seconds to slip the metal claws on over her fingers. They gleamed in the light, dangerous and razor sharp.

With a deep breath, she leaned over him to kiss him, gliding the cold metal over his chest. Not yet hard enough to cut skin - they hadn't talked about boundaries yet, for one thing - but still hard enough to sting.

It took Dante a few moments to realize what she had. He blinked, a few times. Exhaled. "Huh. That's new..."

"What part of 'I have a present for you' made that unclear?" Kathy chuckled, bringing the claws down to skate along his hips, the promise of pain kissably close.

Dante let out a soft sigh in spite of himself. A part of him really liked that promise. "New new," he amended. "Where'd you pick that up...?"

"A vendor," Kathy said, now finger-walking up his chest, each step a divot in his flesh. Any more force and she'd be leaving puncture marks behind. "Primarily BDSM. I got a couple of things for me, but these screamed that I needed to get them for you. They're sharp, but they're small. Can't go terribly deep. And I have a lot more motor control because they're just like long, sharper fingernails."

"Never knew they sold things like that," Dante admitted, his eyes flicking up to her face. "So... what're you planning to do with that, huh?"

He wouldn't be Dante if he didn't let go of a plan the second something more interesting came along.

"Depends on what you want me to do," Kathy said, sweetly. "I could keep playing around like this..."

She trailed her fingers over him.

"Or we could maybe experiment a little."

And finally, those claws turned sharp, leaving four thin lines beneath his nipple.

And just like that, Dante's skin was on fire in a very interesting place. "Oh fuck," he gasped.

This time when Kathy finger-walked, she made sure to dig in, ending right on the soft pink of his left areola. Blood beaded to the surface from shallow cuts. "You have to tell me how much is okay," Kathy said, voice low and sultry. "Tell me how hard you want it."

It wasn't much, the pain. But it was sharper than anything else she'd ever done to him, and Dante couldn't help but bite down on his bottom lip.

"You can do worse than that," he said, his voice going lower than he'd thought.

Ohhhh fuuuuuck. That voice.

Kathy licked up his neck. She was tempted to ask if he was sure but...He was sure. She trusted him.

This time, she just dragged one finger down a line following his sternum all the way down to his belly button. And this time, blood welled.

And ran.

That pain didn't blossom, it went deep, stirring up nerves, drawing all of his attention down to one sharp line across his body. Dante let out a moan, his eyes sliding shut to ward off other input.

Fuck, he hoped she wasn't weirded out by this. She'd bought the claws, sure, but...

She was...fascinated, mostly. It wasn't doing anything for her, exactly, save what it was doing for him. And she liked doing this for him. She felt...dangerous. Scary. Like Mistress Hello Kitty but for real, making Dante respond to a simple flick of her fingers.

Fuck. What would happen if she flicked her fingers?

So she did. Against his nipple. Just to see.

What happened was that Dante sucked in a breath and opened his eyes back up. That had been a spark, too quick to linger.

"Havin' fun?" he sighed.

Kathy gave him a shy smile and nodded. "Are you?" she asked. "Anything you want me to do?" Her expression turned sly. "Not too shy to ask, are you?"

Dante laughed softly. "Having fun," he agreed. "But you're the first person to come at me with sharp objects, babe."

Beat.

"...in a naked fun way."

Kathy chuckled. "I mean, I know we don't always mean the things we say when we're in that space, you know? But I got a sense that you kinda meant it when you talked about wanting sharp. So I thought..."

She shrugged, smiling a bit. "I thought this would be a good experiment."

"Not bad thinking," Dante mused, stretching his arm behind his head as he idly healed the scratches she'd already left. "I liked the first part."

"Any thoughts on what the second part should entail?" she asked, amused.

Dante grinned, sitting up. He reached for her wrist. "How about you put these pretty things back on me and push a little harder?"

"My poor sheets," Kathy teased, closing the distance between them with a kiss. Rather than putting her fingers back on his skin, she twined her arms around his neck.

And then, when she deepened the kiss, she sank the claws into his shoulders.

His skin flared up with heat, tight sensation shooting through him. He moaned against Kathy's mouth, his hands clenching before settling on her hips.
