Was Kathy nervous about tonight? Pfft, of course not. Don't be silly! Kathy was totally not a ball of anxiety over Dante and Barry meeting! Why would she be? It was just the first time her beloved boyfriend and her oldest school friend were going to be introduced. And decide if they liked each other. Not that either were weirdly touchy about things, either!

Thank god Anders and Barry were old friends or she might have had a complete meltdown at some point.

But now dinner was almost done cooking - they were having bulgolgi and it was delicious, thank you very much - and she was wearing something cute and pretty and everything was going to be fine.

Now just to practice the little introduction speech she'd already memorized...

Which was a totally fine and normal thing to do!

And that’s when Barry started imitating Kathy’s arm flail.

Kathy was definitely darting forward to kick him in the shin. He deserved it, dammit.

They both did.

"You are both terrible people and I don't deserve this," she informed them both.

"Ow! Fuck! Shit!" Barry said rubbing his shin. "Is that anyway to treat your Q? I mean-"

He laughed.

"Ah. Fuck it, I had it coming," he admitted. "What smells so good?"

Dante laughed, and jabbed his thumb towards the dining room door. "Kat's making her badass bulgogi," he said. "Patent pending."

"Not that either of you deserve any of it," Kathy sniffs. "But yeah. It's everybody make your own bibimbap bowl tonight, complete with aforementioned badass bulgolgi, homemade kimchi, and braised eggs."

...Not that she had gone over the top for this not-so-very-important-meeting or anything, guys.

"Okay. I'm sorry," Barry said sincerely. "I get it. You worked hard on this and we kind of ruined it for you. But holy shit, your man and I get along. Isn't that what's important."

And he held up the bag of J'GOB. "And I brought you strawberry desserts like you told me too."

"You hear that?" Dante said, grinning as he went on ahead towards the dining room. "I'm your man."

"With strawberry desserts, he means that literally," Kathy said, shaking her head and sighing before it turns into a grin. "You have a surprising amount of power in your hand while you're holding that bag."

Okay. You don't throw something out like that without Barry needing to test this type of situation, Kathy.

"Hey Dante? In my culture you can only eat desserts if your shirtless. That okay?"

He gave Kathy a smirk. "That's just for you," he whispered to her.

Not that she hadn't seen him shirtless of course.

Dante snickered. "That's what you're using your power for?" he teased, already stripping out of his shirt. "Fuck, man, I do that for free."

Shirtlessness came cheap when you were as shameless as Dante was, and didn't mind flashing the supernatural (if currently unlit) brand on your back to near strangers.

"We don't argue with guests in this house," Kathy said serenely, as if she hadn't just kicked said guest.

Look, seeing a thousand times or not, Dante's bare chest was a sight to behold.

"Now Barry gets dinner and a show." She leans over to press a perfectly chaste and respectable kiss on Dante's cheek before heading into the kitchen to start bringing bowls of banchan out to set on the table.

"Well if it's that kind of show, I can go into the other room while you guys bang it out," Barry joked. "I don't need to be here for the main event."

Just not on the table please. He still has issues with what Rikky and Reno did in the warehouse ages ago.

Dante snickered. "I can keep it in my pants for dinner," he promised.

Not the best time to swat Kathy's ass, ass.

When had that ever stopped him before?

Kathy squealed and turned around to stick her tongue at him. "Asshole," she said with incredible fondness. "Yeah, don't worry Barry, we'll save it for dessert."

Beat.

"...And I sanitized the table already."

HELPING!

"... I'll probably skip dessert," he deadpanned.

And then chuckled. "It's so fucking amusing to hear you swear," he said with a grin and looked over at Dante. "Did she ever tell you I was the first guy she saw naked? Happened after I transformed into a dog. Man. I thought her head was going to explode."

"Nah, she didn't," Dante said, but now he was grinning. "Had trouble with the view, Kat?"

"He took my eyes' virginity," Kathy said primly, bringing out the stone bowls she only used for bibimbap, and the last of the ingredients for it. "Bollywood did not prepare me for that.

"Ugh. Bollywood," Barry groaned. "Of course in the middle of it one of the teachers showed up and thought we were in a threesome together. I had no clothes and had to wear a prototype of one of her Banzai suits which was not comfortable."

It did have roomy pockets though.

"Sounds hot," Dante said, predictably, and grinned. "Wait, threesome? Who else was there?"

"Barry's girlfriend at the time," Kathy said. "A princess. With super-cool powers. Not that I was jealous or anything."

Was that a nostalgic look on Barry's face? Just a small one. "Yeah. She's a queen now and running her country like she should," he said cheerfully. "I guess not all high school romances withstand the test of time."

"Sorry, man," Dante said, wandering to the fridge to grab a beer. "But hey, you still look fuckable, you'll be fine."

Barry laughed pretty hard at that and turned a beet red in embarrassment. "Thanks man. I see why your girlfriend told me to bring strawberries."

Dante grinned. "You're welcome," he said. "Beer?"

He almost made some kind of crack about wanting to make sure he took the heteronormativity out of every conversation he was in, but that felt too much like a Kathy in-joke.
