Last year, Dante had surprised them all but good with his Roseapalooza and decision to make breakfast. Kathy wasn't quite that crazy - that was reserved for Christmas, with minor bleedthrough for Thanksgiving - but she wasn't going to let this year go without a return volley.

Which meant baking. In a tiny red pinup apron over never-you-mind and heels definitely not intended for use in the kitchen, but still...baking. And, you know, a bit of tempering and molding chocolate, too. But by that afternoon, she had a two dozen roses for Dante and two dozen roses for Anders.

And a couple extra each for herself because she wasn't stupid thank you. She loved them, but the boys were bad at sharing.

Food, anyway.

Kathy hopped up onto the counter, all cute, frilly apron over long legs and stupidly high heels, nibbling on one of the extra roses she'd made for Anders. "I supposed I've kept you in suspense long enough!" she called back. "Come and get it!"

Dante grinned. "I'm coming!" he called, breezing into the kitchen--

--and stopping in his tracks. The wolf-whistle? Necessary.

Kathy grinned, sunny and bright rather than sultry and sexy. But hey. She liked it when Dante appreciated her, okay.

It turned into a smirk a moment later anyway. "Why hello there," she said. "Here for my treats?"

"Always," Dante said, and then he was covering ground until he was standing in front of her, hands already settling on her legs.

Kathy's grin grew again, eyes warm and soft as she looked down at him. "Good," she said. "Made 'em special for you."

"Thanks," Dante said.

And then he was leaning up to claim her lips for a kiss.

Mmm, and Kathy was only too happy to oblige, bending down and giving him a kiss flavored with honey and apples, hands sliding into his hair.

"You taste good," Dante murmured between kisses, his fingers tangling in her hair in return.

"Everywhere," she told him, nipping at his bottom lip while heat sparked in her eyes.

Though since they weren't on the island this week - thank god - she could ignore that in favor of making sure he at least tried her treats before tasting her anywhere else.

Dante laughed softly. "I mean, I kinda hope you didn't shove the food up there..."

Kathy cracked up, pulling away from him, the mood (momentarily) shattered. "I said I taste good everywhere, you ridiculous perv, not that I tasted like chocolate or honey everywhere, god."

She grabbed the bouquet of chocolate roses and shoved them at him. "Oh my god, take your present while I try to remember what sexy feels like."

Dante grinned wolfishly as he took the roses. "You'll figure it out again," he promised, winking.

You loved this, Kathy.

She...really did. Damn it all. Couldn't even argue with that.

"You better hope I do," Kathy snorted. "If you want your Valentine's Day to be any fun at all."

"Are you gonna forgive me if I tell you I got you real flowers this year?" Dante teased, taking a bite of chocolate.

Mmm.

"Maybe a little, since there clearly aren't enough to decorate the house with," Kathy teased, waiting for him to reach the surprise strawberry center of his roses.

Like she'd ever just make Dante chocolate. Pfft.

"No, but there should be a whole bunch in the living room right around--"

His face lit up.

"Surpriiiiiiise," Kathy said, watching him.

"This is fucking awesome," Dante informed her, beaming.

... after swallowing.

"I know what you like," Kathy said with a smile. "And strawberry confections are kind of a Valentine's Day tradition about now."

A small break in the middle there, but otherwise...

"Best girlfriend," Dante said, leaning in to give her a chocolatey kiss. "You deserve every last one of those roses."

"Those roses you left out in the living room, rather than bringing in to me?" Kathy teased. "My hero."

"I didn't want to bug you while you were cooking," Dante said, poking her.

"Likely story," Kathy teased, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"Dig the outfit, by the way," Dante murmured.

"Nothing says you can't be hot and domestic," Kathy said with a sultry chuckle. "Maybe I was hoping to be bothered while I was cooking."
