Last year, Dante had surprised them all but good with his Roseapalooza and decision to make breakfast. Kathy wasn't quite that crazy - that was reserved for Christmas, with minor bleedthrough for Thanksgiving - but she wasn't going to let this year go without a return volley.

Which meant baking. In a tiny red pinup apron over never-you-mind and heels definitely not intended for use in the kitchen, but still...baking. And, you know, a bit of tempering and molding chocolate, too. But by that afternoon, she had a two dozen roses for Dante and two dozen roses for Anders.

And a couple extra each for herself because she wasn't stupid thank you. She loved them, but the boys were bad at sharing.

Food, anyway.

"Is it safe to go into the kitchen yet?" Dante called.

'Cause fuck, it smelled good.

Kathy hopped up onto the counter, all cute, frilly apron over long legs and stupidly high heels, nibbling on one of the extra roses she'd made for Anders. "I supposed I've kept you in suspense long enough!" she called back. "Come and get it!"

Dante grinned. "I'm coming!" he called, breezing into the kitchen--

--and stopping in his tracks. The wolf-whistle? Necessary.

Kathy grinned, sunny and bright rather than sultry and sexy. But hey. She liked it when Dante appreciated her, okay.

It turned into a smirk a moment later anyway. "Why hello there," she said. "Here for my treats?"

"Always," Dante said, and then he was covering ground until he was standing in front of her, hands already settling on her legs.

Kathy's grin grew again, eyes warm and soft as she looked down at him. "Good," she said. "Made 'em special for you."

"Thanks," Dante said.

And then he was leaning up to claim her lips for a kiss.

"I smell cinnamon," Anders observed, hovering near the doorway. "And ... is that warm honey?"

Mmm, and Kathy was only too happy to oblige, bending down and giving him a kiss flavored with honey and apples, hands sliding into his hair.

"Good nose," Kathy said, whole face lighting up when she spotted him. "Wanna come see what I've got for you?"

"Don't stick your nose into it too hard," Dante joked, nudging his shoulder.

"I think I can see some of that from here," Anders said, with a nice long appreciative leer at Kathy in her apron and not-much-else. "But it couldn't hurt to get a little closer."

He stepped into the kitchen, glancing at the pans.

"You taste good," Dante murmured between kisses, his fingers tangling in her hair in return.

"Why, are you worried I'll fall into the oven?" Anders asked, nudging Dante in return. "I think I can stay safe of that at least."

Dante snickered. "I dunno, man," he said. "I've seen you trip and fall when you got... distracted..."

Like that one time Dante let Kathy talk him into wearing hot pants.

"That wasn't my fault," Anders said, because of course he knew what Dante was referring to. "Your ass is epic, and I still wouldn't have fallen if Blondie didn't leave her toys on the stairs."

"Everywhere," she told him, nipping at his bottom lip while heat sparked in her eyes.

Though since they weren't on the island this week - thank god - she could ignore that in favor of making sure he at least tried her treats before tasting her anywhere else.

Kathy chuckled and held her hands out to him. "You've gotta come kiss the chef before you get anything else," she said coyly. "I'm not that kind of girl to give it all up before you've even properly said hello."

Which was, in fact, a lie and he knew it.

"So you're making me work for it," Anders said, and reached out to put his hands in hers before drawing her closer. "Can't say I mind too much..."

"It's never work if you love what you do," Kathy teased, bringing her free hand up to cup his cheek. "And I know I love you."

And then her mouth met his.

Dante laughed softly. "I mean, I kinda hope you didn't shove the food up there..."

"Sure, blame it all on the pussy," Dante said, grinning. He slung an easy shoulder over Anders' shoulders. "Happy Valentine's day, man."

"And I love you," Anders returned, pressing his body into hers as their lips came together.

She tasted sweet, like she'd been tasting as she baked, or maybe it was just her. She tasted like home.

"You know me," Anders said, with a not-so-subtle grab at Dante's rear. "Always a slave to the pussy. And happy Valentine's day to you, too."

Dante snickered softly when he felt Anders' hand on his rear. "Love you too, you unsubtle asshole," he said, leaning in for a kiss.
