Koreoke, Washington DC, Saturday Night

Sure, some people were busy fighting rampaging snow monsters and stuff today. But for those who were friends with Kathy and Dante, they had another option available to them: Kathy's 21st birthday party!

Their venue for the evening was Koreoke, a Korean barbeque restaurant that doubled as a karaoke bar. Kathy had rented out the back room for her party, which included three long barbeque tables, a stage with up to four microphones (in case of boy bands and group numbers), and a bartender along the far wall to serve drinks all night until last call.

Because if turning twenty-one wasn't a good reason to stuff yourself full of grilled meat (well, veggies and tofu in Kathy's case), get drunk, and sing your heart out to the largest selection of karaoke tracks Kathy had ever seen in one place, then what was?!

[Up VERY early for SP because holidays are a THING (and so are BDEs). Open to pretty much anyone who is/was Kathy's friend (or Dante's friends that Kathy also knows)!]

"Well, everybody knew that," Anders said, and kissed Kathy's neck as he drew her further onto his lap. "That's just science. Laps are better than chairs."

"And food tastes better stolen," Kathy said, like one statement logically led to another. She curled up on him, giving a breathy laugh as his lips skimmed over her skin. "And karaoke is best after several drinks and an unholy amount of meat."

Which she still couldn't bring herself to eat, but watching other people enjoy it was almost as good.

"Kathy's rules for life," Anders said, finally lifting his hand so she could take his drink. (Though was it really stealing if he was watching her do it?) "What are you thinking you're going to sing tonight? I'm not nearly drunk enough to try it myself yet."

Kathy still beamed at him, snagging the bottle and taking a long sip. "They've got a bunch of Korean songs that I haven't heard in years that I might sing. And you know Dante's unholy love of all things 80s. Honestly, I'm probably just gonna hot the mic for an hour and only stop when my voice gives out."

"Is there another big, exciting birthday after twenty-one?" Kathy asked. "Everyone's just lucky I didn't demand a birthday orgy like I was threatening."

"There's 30," Anders said immediately. "And I guess all the big, round numbers after that, even if you will be old by then."

A pause.

"And is the orgy really off the table?"

"Well...we'd have to draw up a guest list..." Kathy said thoughtfully.

"Nothing too big," Anders agreed. "Not that I've ever really been to an orgy, but I imagine if you have more than seven or eight people everything just gets overwhelming."

"No, no, you're right," Kathy said, nodding. "A small, intimate orgy is the way to go. Big enough that everyone gets a thrill, small enough that nobody gets lost."

"Also, makes it easier to rent a properly decadent space," Anders said, getting even more into the spirit of it. "If you have too many people you have to find a ballroom or a warehouse, and those just seem soulless."

"True," Kathy said, stealing another sip of soju. "A nice hotel room, maybe, where you can lay blankets down so everybody's comfortable. You know, where you can create an ambience."

Because everybody knew, the most important part of an orgy was the mood lighting.

"Maybe drape some scarves over the lamps," Anders suggested. "Mood lighting, you know. Oh, and you could get room service to bring up oysters and strawberries."

"And champagne," Kathy said, giggling. Their orgy was starting to sound like the kind of thing you'd see at two am on Cinemax. "With something sexy playing quietly to give us mood music."

"They make albums of porn music, don't they?" Anders asked rhetorically. "That would set the perfect mood."

"So long as it's only the music and not additional grunts and moans," Kathy decided. "All orgy noises must be real and sincere."

"We wouldn't want to be upstaged by a soundtrack," Anders nodded. "Besides, they're professionals. We're just enthusiastic amateurs."

"So, now all we have to do is finalize the guest list, find an orgy-friendly hotel room, and order that soundtrack," Kathy said. "Easy-peasy, orgy by Christmas."
