Koreoke, Washington DC, Saturday Night

Sure, some people were busy fighting rampaging snow monsters and stuff today. But for those who were friends with Kathy and Dante, they had another option available to them: Kathy's 21st birthday party!

Their venue for the evening was Koreoke, a Korean barbeque restaurant that doubled as a karaoke bar. Kathy had rented out the back room for her party, which included three long barbeque tables, a stage with up to four microphones (in case of boy bands and group numbers), and a bartender along the far wall to serve drinks all night until last call.

Because if turning twenty-one wasn't a good reason to stuff yourself full of grilled meat (well, veggies and tofu in Kathy's case), get drunk, and sing your heart out to the largest selection of karaoke tracks Kathy had ever seen in one place, then what was?!

[Up VERY early for SP because holidays are a THING (and so are BDEs). Open to pretty much anyone who is/was Kathy's friend (or Dante's friends that Kathy also knows)!]

The tables all have grills running down the center so you can cook your food to your liking. There are great platters of meats and veggies to share and pass around, as well as other premade meals.

There are also bottles of soju scattered every couple of feet because of course there is.

Sing!

Lounge on couches around small tables (to hold your drinks, obviously), look through the fine selections of completely moddable music, or go up on the station and perform.

And, of course, the old standby...drinking! There's an bar, there's plenty of booze (a lot of it strawberry-flavored, weirdly enough), have a few, especially if you need to build up the nerve to sing!

Raven licked dumpling grease off her fingers and draped her other arm over Kathy's shoulders. "This was a perfect idea."

She'd been in a Mood ever since it started getting cold this year. Hanging out with her favorite person and eating hot food was doing a great job of taking her mind off it.

Anders found one of the larger bits of beef and popped it onto the grill, then settled back to sip his soju with a satisfied look on his face. Food, birthdays, friends, singing ... this was definitely the life.

Dante had spent a considerable amount of time repressing the part where this was technically also his birthday. Pigging out helped.

"This is heaven," he decided, pulling another plate of meat next to him. He was running out!

Kathy hadn't mentioned it once. Hadn't even made him have a bowl of soup, even though the implied oversight hurt. But not the same way or to the same degree as being reminded would hurt Dante.

"I keep telling you I need a barbecue table grill," Kathy told him, dropping a strawberry margarita next to his plate. "And you never take me seriously."

"I'm starting to warm up to it," Dante said, laughing softly. "I mean, I'm getting better at making birthday soup, right? Maybe I'm gonna figure out some kitchen shit."

"See, and I think a table grill will help with that," Kathy insisted, grinning. "I figure you'll take to cooking immediately if it's the 'apply fire directly to food and eat' variety" She winked at him and stole a kiss.

Dante reached up to touch her cheek, tugging her in for another, slightly longer kiss.

Hush, it was Kathy's birthday, she could get it.

Mmm. His lips were spicy and it was all Kathy could do not to devour his mouth right here. Next year, their so-called party would be locking the three of them into a room with a bunch of toys and not coming out for days.

"There's a bottle right over there!" he protested. "You can get your own."

A pause. "Okay, I was trying to compliment your body there but it just sounded cannibalistic."
