Barry's Old Warehouse, Warehouse District, Sunday Afternoon

Okay, her apartment was still kind of sagging and Eliot's house was still destroyed, and as nice as the crew had made up the warehouse they were staying in, Kathy still needed to get out sometimes. Have her own space that she could control. And while she had Dite's, sometimes she just didn't want that space to be filled with silicon dicks and dirty-themed candy.

So, today she was cleaning out the one other place she could sort of lay a claim to: Barry's old warehouse. It would serve as another bolt hole hideout place to stay if she needed it. And a place for Dante to dye her hair tomorrow. And just a good space to have in general.

But it needed a good cleaning; years of neglect followed by her own tantrum after Fandon's singing day had left it in shambles. So, earbuds in and music playing from her phone--no, seriously, where had her ipod gone?!--she was putting in a couple of hours trying to get this place into some kind of shape. A couple of duffel bags were tossed in a corner; a quick run out to the mainland had given her plenty supplies to stash around when she was done.

"Oh!" Kathy said, pleasantly surprised. "I like that! I like that a lot! You look so--"

Pretty. She was going to call Raven pretty. But that would be weird, right?

"Are you feeling weird about basically complimenting yourself?" Raven asked, raising an amused eyebrow.

"...It's really weird, okay?!"

Raven knew her so well.

"You know you're allowed to say nice things about yourself, right?"

Of course she didn't. She was Kathy.

"I say nice things about me!" Kathy protested. "I complimented that quiche I made on Wednesday, remember?"

"That was a good quiche," Raven said. "But you know that's not the same thing."

[spin_kick_snap]

"It was a compliment," Kathy muttered. "But it's just...it sounds so conceited to look at you wearing my face and talk about how pretty you look."

"Or it just means that you know objectively that you're pretty," Raven pointed out. "People like to say that it's bad to like yourself, but as we've established, people are stupid and terrible."

"I mean, we have established that," Kathy said slowly. "Because people are the literal fucking worst. Fine." She heaved a sigh like she was all very put upon and said, "Okay. So objectively, I can concede I'm pretty. And that I like the streaks."

Those exact streaks in that exact color. Would Raven mind holding still while she measured her whole head to know precisely how it should all go?

Not for the first thirty seconds? But she might end up trolling Kathy and slowly widening the streaks or changing their color. Just, you know, so Kathy knew.

"There you go, then. No need to worry about whether or not you'll regret it tomorrow."

Well, fortunately by now, Kathy had realized that her beloved roommate was a goddamn troll.

"Well, so long as Dante uses the same color and general configuration," Kathy murmured, inching a bit closer, fingers twitching with the desire to start making meticulous notes about where the dye was.

"Do you want to take a picture? We could do a selfie and you could convince the internet you have an identical twin."

"Absolutely," Kathy said, pulling out her phone and bouncing over to Raven's side. "You should shift so you're wearing very different clothes than me."

"Should I be the evil twin?" Raven asked. "I'm pretty sure from watching TV that that means I need to wear a lot of eye liner. Or possibly a goatee."

"No goatees!" Kathy said, cracking up. "Or weird handlebar mustaches. Or even normal ones! Evil twin, yes, facial hair, no."

[tigerundercover]

"Oh sure," Raven said, shifting to imitate a leather catsuit with a smirk. "Take all the fun out of it."

"Ooooh," Kathy said, taking a picture immediately. "I don't think I'd look that good in a full body catsuit."

Right?

Raven grinned. At least Kathy learned pretty quickly. "Any other looks you want me to test for you?"

Kathy shook her head. "Pretty sure I ask for more and I'm going to be paralyzed with indecision again," she said. "I mean, sure, it might be fun to see what I'd look like with blonde ringlets and stacked like a Playboy model, but also kiiiiinda weird."

"Yeeeah, I don't think I want to turn into porn-star Kathy. We'll stick with your evil twin. Named . . . Carol?"

Evil twin names were hard.

"Kathleen," Kathy suggested. "We both use Kathy to confuse everyone. Oooh, or Catalina!"

"Catalina!" Raven agreed. "We'll be Cat and Kathy."

"Why do I foresee a trip into the city with this sometime?" Kathy asked with a completely fake sigh. "Just to see how much havoc we can cause?"

"Because that's a fantastic idea," Raven said. "If we were still in school, I'd suggest swapping places to baffle the teachers, but wreaking havok in the city is the next best thing."

"What are the odds you can confuse the crew?" Kathy asked, biting her lip to keep from grinning. "That could be fun..."
