Barry's Old Warehouse, Warehouse District, Sunday Afternoon

Okay, her apartment was still kind of sagging and Eliot's house was still destroyed, and as nice as the crew had made up the warehouse they were staying in, Kathy still needed to get out sometimes. Have her own space that she could control. And while she had Dite's, sometimes she just didn't want that space to be filled with silicon dicks and dirty-themed candy.

So, today she was cleaning out the one other place she could sort of lay a claim to: Barry's old warehouse. It would serve as another bolt hole hideout place to stay if she needed it. And a place for Dante to dye her hair tomorrow. And just a good space to have in general.

But it needed a good cleaning; years of neglect followed by her own tantrum after Fandon's singing day had left it in shambles. So, earbuds in and music playing from her phone--no, seriously, where had her ipod gone?!--she was putting in a couple of hours trying to get this place into some kind of shape. A couple of duffel bags were tossed in a corner; a quick run out to the mainland had given her plenty supplies to stash around when she was done.

"Why do I foresee a trip into the city with this sometime?" Kathy asked with a completely fake sigh. "Just to see how much havoc we can cause?"

"Because that's a fantastic idea," Raven said. "If we were still in school, I'd suggest swapping places to baffle the teachers, but wreaking havok in the city is the next best thing."

"What are the odds you can confuse the crew?" Kathy asked, biting her lip to keep from grinning. "That could be fun..."

"I don't know," Raven said, thinking. "I could probably get them for at least a couple minutes. But it might turn into them thinking you're possessed or something."

"I'm pretty sure neither of us like pea soup enough to really pull that one off," Kathy said. "I bet Hardison would figure it out pretty quickly. He knows you."

"But he doesn't necessarily know you that well," Raven pointed out. "I might just be rubbing off on you or something." She laughed. "Watch, it'd be Parker who'd see through it first and give the guys the stink-eye for not finding it immediately obvious."

Or Parker would decide that Kathy had been replaced by an alien robot. That was a possibility too.

So, this could end with either Parker thinking they were funny or one of them tied to a chair. And possibly tased.

...Yeah, that sounded about right.

"I bet Eliot would see through it right away," Kathy said loyally. "You're good, but he notices the tiniest weird details."

"He can't be that good," Raven scoffed. "I only got caught by Charles when we were kids because he was a telepath. And I didn't even know his mother."

Admittedly, there was also a whole thing where Charles' mother would have never actually, you know, spoken to Charles like she was his mother, which had tripped wee!Raven up. BUT OTHER THAN THAT.

"Yeah, but he's trained for stuff like that," Kathy declared. "Hardison wouldn't notice, Eliot would know immediately, and Parker would think I was an alien." She frowned. "...I have no idea how quickly Anders and Dante would guess."

"I'd suggest trying it, but I'm going to guess that could go south really fast."

"Yeeeeeeeeeah," Kathy agreed with a sigh. "It's probably one of those things that's more fun to think about than try. If anything, we'd be better off trying to get them to guess which one of us was the real Kathy."

"Yeah. . . . What would you do if they got it wrong, though?"

"Depends on the day," Kathy admitted. "Might laugh. Might cry. Might cuss them out for being idiots. We'd probably only be able to do it on a day when I was already in a good mood."

"Well, if you let me know that you want to, I'm in. But I'm still pretty sure it's not the best idea."

"This is probably one of those ideas that we laugh about but never end up doing," Kathy said, discarding the idea. It didn't matter how amused she was by the idea, if Raven didn't like it, they weren't doing it. Kathy knew her judgment track record was fairly bad, after all.

"It's more fun to just make up how they'll respond anyway," Raven decided. "Then we can pretend we're gods who can make people react however we want."

Kathy laughed at that again, reaching out to tweak one of the purple streaks.

"So, all right do you think they'd respond. You think you could fool 'em?"

Raven pretended to think that one over. "I could probably convince them I'm you with a head injury. Or, ooo, a gremlin bite!"

"Oh god, do I even wanna know? No, wait, I do." Kathy clapped her hands. "C'mon, lemme see your Kathy impression."

"Kathy with a head injury?" Raven asked. "Or Kathy with a gremlin bite?"

"Yes," Kathy said. "Either. Whichever? Ummm...gremlin bite."
