Housewarming Party! Apartment Above Luke's, Friday Afternoon Till Evening

Raven and Kathy were officially moved in!

Okay, not everything was done and most of their stuff was still at Eliot's, but they'd gotten a lot of work done painting and assembling furniture and most of what was left could be moved over a bit at a time. Which meant...it was close enough to being fully moved in that a small party was warranted. Especially if you were looking for a way to show you were nice, sane and adjusted a reason to party!

The party proper started at 6pm with plenty of delicious foods to enjoy, but people were more than welcome to come over early and help with the remaining wall painting and furniture assembling there was to do. Help was appreciated, but mostly people were invited to over to eat, relax, and help make this new place feel like a real home.

"Right." Raven was stuck on that word. "Not even close." She still hadn't managed to de-plate. "I am so sorry. I didn't -- are you bleeding at all?"

There was usually a lot of blood after she did things like that.

Kathy looked down at herself. There were four scores on her arms, red marks on her skin. In one, tiny beads of blood welled up, a shallow cut. "Not much," she said, showing Raven her arm. "You just barely grazed me. I--I should have been faster."

Or not been an idiot at all.

"Oh god," Raven said again, staring at that spot of blood like she'd managed to open one of Kathy's arteries. "I'll get a bandaid. Do we have bandaids? We have to have bandaids right a first aid kit is basic housemaking 101. . . ."

Oh hey she was babbling.

"I don't think we have one," Kathy said, shaking her head. "I can't believe I didn't think to get a first aid kit! But it's okay, Raven, really!" She wiped off the blood with her thumb, sticking it into her mouth without thinking.

Oh wait, terrible plan.

"I startled you!" Kathy reminded. "I should have seen that coming! And then I--" She shuddered. "I clacked at you!"

". . . Yeah, that was pretty fucked up." And had not helped the startle reaction at all. "What was that about?"

"I have no idea," Kathy admitted. "It was just...reflex."

And she was filing 'Why do I even have that reflex still?' under 'Things I Don't Actually Want to Know For $100, Alex.'

"I'm so, so sorry. First I startled you and then I made it worse."

"It's understandable," Raven said. "I'm pretty sure most people don't have to worry about their roommate trying to kill them for startling them."

"Most of those people don't have roommates that walked three thousand miles through ex-infested terrain," Kathy pointed out. "You have the right to be...twitchy."

You know, like the ones she'd actually killed. Who weren't even dead yet.

"Alright. Can we go with this not being either of our faults, then?"

"I can go with that," Kathy said, opening up her arms for a hug. But she was going to wait for Raven to take her up on it, just in case. "But we'll still know better for the future."

"We're so mature and responsible," Kathy said with a small, strained chuckle. Hopefully Raven wouldn't mind the clinging. "We could teach a class."
