Housewarming Party! Apartment Above Luke's, Friday Afternoon Till Evening

Raven and Kathy were officially moved in!

Okay, not everything was done and most of their stuff was still at Eliot's, but they'd gotten a lot of work done painting and assembling furniture and most of what was left could be moved over a bit at a time. Which meant...it was close enough to being fully moved in that a small party was warranted. Especially if you were looking for a way to show you were nice, sane and adjusted a reason to party!

The party proper started at 6pm with plenty of delicious foods to enjoy, but people were more than welcome to come over early and help with the remaining wall painting and furniture assembling there was to do. Help was appreciated, but mostly people were invited to over to eat, relax, and help make this new place feel like a real home.

Don't be silly. You can file a suit for anything!

You'd just get in trouble if the court decided the suit was frivolous.

"There's probably some kind of user agreement clause that says you accept the difficulty when you buy the item," Raven guessed. "You know, in my day, when you bought furniture it was brought to your house already, you know, furniture."

Ringo snorted. "I've never really bought furniture before," she admitted. "But I think that it'd be a lot more convenient to not have to use one of these." She waved that aggravating little piece of metal again.

"Seriously." Raven rolled her eyes. ". . . Of course, I did furnish and decorate my entire room for, like, four thousand dollars."

A nice living room set by itself could cost at least that much.

"Which still seems like, you know, a ton of money." Like, a toooooon.

"Some places wanted 1,500 for just a couch," Raven said. "And I got two of those, bookcases, a bed, a desk, a desk chair, about a million lamps, loads of cushions and blankets, rugs, the paint for the walls. . . ."

There was no way all of that was going to get done today. But that was alright, Raven liked having a project to do when she wasn't at her one day a week job.

Ringo grinned. "So you'll be done getting everything set up, what, like next year sometime?"

"That entirely depends on anyone figuring out what that thing does," Raven said, pointing to the metal piece in Ringo's hand. "Because I've got at least a dozen of them now."

"Maybe you have to combine them somehow?" Ringo suggested. "And then they actually get useful?"

"Um. Magic? Or, um, magnets?"

Neither of those seemed very likely, did they?

"I'm guessing they probably didn't expect people to have magic. Or tool magnets."

"Though," Ringo held the thing up and scowled at it. "I'm not sure what you could even make with the things."

"Well, what else does it give you?"

"You know, that's a good question." Ringo shook her head in bemusement.

"You totally just found the thing and ran with being mad at it," Raven guessed.

"Well, I got distracted by this," Ringo pointed out, picking up the piece of paper she'd set down next to her. "I think the box was for a, um, chair?" She scowled at the label. "Is that the Swedish word for 'chair'?"

"It's named for a Swedish city. Or . . . a lake? The different furniture types have different themes." Raven shrugged. "I think the goal is to make sure no one knows how to pronounce them."

"Oh." Ringo let out a little sigh of relief. "I was worried that it was just me."

"Definitely not," Raven assured her. "I think you need to be super Swedish to know how to say any of this stuff right."

"Are you super-Swedish that you know all this?" Ringo teased. "Or was it all in those blogs you found?"

"It's more of a general . . . sense I got," Raven said. "From the blogs. And listening to the other shoppers in the store."

That got a nod. "It was definitely an interesting trip, but I sort of hope I don't have to go back for, you know, a while."

"Pretty sure that won't be a problem." She and Kathy had already bought half the store after all. "Unless there's some new furniture you're just dying to have for your room. . . ."

Ringo shook her head way too quickly. "No thanks!" She chuckled. "I think I'll stick with what I've got."

She grinned over at Raven. "I'm glad you both manage to find all the stuff you were looking for, though." And not just because she didn't want to make another trip to Ikea.
