33 Apocalypse Ave, Thursday Morning

"Hold on, silly," Sarah said, her nine-year old face crinkled in concentration as she applied eyeshadow to Kathy with a surprisingly deft hand. "If you move, I'll smear it and Daddy is already grumpy it's taking so long." A few more strokes and she pulled away, snagging the mirror to hold up to her big sister's face. "There!" Sarah said. "What do you think?"

Thirteen-year-old Kathy gasped at the reflection in the mirror, unsure she was really looking at herself. "Are you sure that's me?" she asked. "I look...pretty!"

Sarah just laughed. "You are pretty, dummy. You just don't know it yet."
